BOYS SOCCER: United, Blue Devils net Capitol honors

Poynette/Portage senior defender Michael Brasda (8) was a first-team all-Capitol Conference selection this season.

8 athletes from Lodi, Poynette/Portage all-conference picks

Lodi landed five players on the list while Poynette/Portage had three as the Capitol Conference recently released its all-conference boys soccer selections for the 2009 season.

Senior midfielder Jeremy Landes earned first-team honors for the Blue Devils while senior defender Michael Brasda was a first-team pick for the United.

Senior forward Spudd Latour and junior midfielder John Yerke were second-team all-conference picks for Poynette/Portage. Latour had 11 points this season on assist and five goals, including one game-winner. Yerke had a team-high six goals, including three game-winners.

The United went 8-12-1 this season and finished seventh in the Capitol Conference.

Junior defender Cole Pieper was named to the second-team for Lodi, while junior forward Alex Ibinger, senior midfielder Chris Cooper and senior defender Andrew Bulovsky were tabbed as honorable mention selections.

Landes had six points on one goal and four assists this season, including one penalty kick. Ibinger added nine points with four goals and one assist, while

Cooper had one goal and two assists and Bulovsky totaled a pair of goals and two assists.

Lodi went 13-9-1 on the season and finished sixth in the conference standings.

Deerfield/Cambridge senior Dan Steen was named the Conference's Player of the Year.
