Emily Perkins, 13, a Portage High School freshman, won three medals over the weekend at the Skate St. Paul regional figure skating competition. She won medals for the spin competition, jump competition and freestyle long program. The medals are the 13th, 14th and 15th medals Perkins has won in her figure skating career. She also won two silvers and three golds at the Badger State Games, earning her a spot in the State Games of America, to be held next summer in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Portage senior Kate Wolf swims the 500 freestyle at a meet last season. Wolf hopes to lead the Portage girls swim team to an improved season. “She’s really come out this year and dedicated her whole summer to training. She’s looking really good right now,” said Portage head swimming coach Jeff Melby of Wolf.

While it was the first match of the season, you couldn't tell it by the way the Pardeeville Bulldogs performed on the court at Princeton on Tuesday night. Pardeeville looked like a team in mid-season form as they rolled to a 3-0 victory, beating the host Tigers 25-22, 25-12, 25-18.
