MAILBAG: Why fear plans for health care?

How foolish we are. Here we have a chance for something everyone in the world wants and needs. But we Americans? We flee from a chance of health care for all, scampering away like a pack of lemmings. All out of fear from the heartless scarecrows.

These fear-mongers represent the powerful faction that enjoys exploiting our resources in a wasteful manner and gets rich off us but doesn't want to chip in to help the poor, visit the sick, comfort the prisoners, and certainly not welcome more strangers. Their profits control our politicians and the mass media. They can throw light on so many goblins that we don't know where to turn.

Come, now. Fear not. Don't fall in disarray. Don't run for the cold ocean. Even the lobbyists who used lies to block the Clinton health bill in 1993 ended up needing jobs with health care.

We are all in this life together. We all need to know the truth about nutrition and diseases. We all need a healthful environment. Let us not get picky about who will get the credit for fixing our expensive health care.

Let us rather join together and work for the best health care for all. Then we can prove that even in bleak moments we will help each other, help all families, help even our businesses and their workers.
