RIO - Leona Marie Jacobson, 78, passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the Columbia Health Care Center.

She was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of the late Leopold and Philomenia Petrazela Prochazka. She was a longtime resident of the Rio area and a member of Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Hannah Circle. She loved playing bingo and cards and feeding the birds.

She is survived by her children, Lester Allen (Barb) Jacobson of Columbus, David Roy Jacobson and friend Dusty of Illinois, Cheryl (Terry) Mielke of Rio, Ronald L. Jacobson and friend Cindy of Portage and Alice M. (Dick) Vaughan of Columbus; brother, George (Barb) Prochazka of Edgerton; grandchildren, Jessica Jacobson (Troy Engebretson), Eric (Tiffany) Jacobson, Ronnie (Patty) Jacobson, David (Trisha) Mielke, Mark (Bri) Mielke, Chad Mielke and Rachel Peterson; great-grandchildren, Payton Gorr, Jade, Tenielle and Eric J. Jacobson, Akira, Eden and Ryah Jacobson, Taylor Levzow, Darren and Steve Wendtland; many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Leslie Jacobson, in 1990.

A memorial service is planned for 11:30 a.m. Nov. 4 at Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Church, N3694 County Road Old F, Rio. Pastor Joan Wittrock will officiate. Friends may call on the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Private inurnment services will follow. At Leona's request, please do not send flowers.
