PORTAGE - William J. H. Fredrick, 80, of the town of Moundville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo.
William was born Jan. 31, 1929, in the town of Moundville, the son of William and Essie Hume Fredrick. He was married Sept. 30, 1950, to Jean Zink. He owned and operated Fredrick Plumbing and Electrical, and previously owned and operated Dairy Equipment Sales and Service. Bill enjoyed his work and working with the public very much. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, crafts, working in his orchard and farming. Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of Moundville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; four children, William C. Fredrick of Lake Delton, Robert D. (Laura Jean) Fredrick of Endeavor, Marilyn J. Fredrick of Endeavor, and Denise A. (Joe) Chapman of Endeavor; five grandchildren; two special grandchildren, Todd W. (Torry) Fredrick of Endeavor, and Billie Jo (John) Pejskar of Baraboo; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Lida Mae Hampshire of New London; other near relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leo Fredrick; a sister, Elinor Lilley; a sister, Leora Beaver; a brother in infancy; and a grandson, Jason Fredrick.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Moundville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barbara Bolz officiating. Burial will follow in Moundville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
