A Montello woman faces an initial prison sentence of 120 years after authorities said she drained the account of a man on disability.
Wendy L. Wright, 42, of Montello, was charged last week with 39 counts of felony misappropriate ID information to obtain money and one count of fraud by use of a financial transaction card. Each charge carries a possible maximum initial penalty of three years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
According to investigators with the Montello Police Department, Wright between January and July 31 made numerous withdrawals, via an ATM machine, from the man's account.
The man had given her permission to withdraw $400 per month to pay for his rent and food for six months, but Wright reportedly took an additional $5,787 from his account, taking it down to almost zero, according to the complaint.
Wright is free on a $1,500 signature bond on the charges and is scheduled for an initial appearance Monday in Marquette County Circuit Court.
