Intersection of Thompson and East Mullett streets: At 2:45 a.m. Oct. 31, firefighters responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident. Eleven firefighters responded to the scene of a 1995 Mazda DX/LX damaged after striking a utility pole and a sign. The firefighters cleaned up antifreeze and oil that leaked onto the street, picked up parts of the vehicle and swept the road clear. Engine 6 and Rescue 9 responded and left the scene at 3:48 a.m.
Milepost 87, Interstate 39: At 9:16 a.m. Sunday, firefighters received a call of a vehicle that struck a guardrail. A state trooper said the firefighters were not needed. Engine 6 responded with four firefighters while 9 remained on standby at the station until 9:42 a.m.
Highway 16 at Weyh Road: At 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a deer. Engine 6 responded with four crew members, who checked the vehicle and the scene, and moved the deer to the side of the road. Nine remained on standby at the station until 6:22 p.m.
600 block of West Cook Street: Firefighters at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday responded to a report of power lines down in an alley. Engine 8 responded with four firefighters, who waited for representatives from Alliant Energy to arrive and ensure the scene was safe. Eleven remained on standby at the station until 7:04 p.m.
Highway 51/16 at Highway P: At 9:59 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters responded to the scene of a one-vehicle accident. A Toyota Rav was on its side in a ditch. Engine 6 and Rescue 9 responded with 10 firefighters, who helped to extract the driver of the vehicle and place her into the ambulance. Firefighters checked the vehicle for leaking fluids before pushing the vehicle back onto its wheels to allow it to be towed from the scene. Seven firefighters remained on standby at the station until 11:48 p.m.
